Innovative springless overhead doors in Verhoek Europe’s new distribution centre
Verhoek Europe is an international logistics company with over 70 years’ experience. The ambitious family firm now transports goods throughout almost all of Europe, with a commitment to quality, service and availability. They have chosen to equip their new Dutch distribution centre, Verhoek Europe - Hattemerbroek, with state-of-the-art ASSA ABLOY OH1142P Dual Drive overhead doors.
Advanced distribution centre
The new H2O business park, southwest of Zwolle, The Netherlands, has been home to Verhoek Europe’s distribution centre since late 2023. The project was completed last autumn by construction company Pleijsier Bouw. The impressive 20,000 m² warehouse was developed by and owned by Borghese Logistics and was designed by Mies Architecture and Pelecon structural engineers.
"This brand new, fully electric building is particularly attractive for a logistics company," says Steven van der Sloot, project coordinator at Pleijsier Bouw. "Besides the location, the flexibility of the building means that it can be divided into several functional units, and the BREEAM Very Good certification offers many advantages. It is logical that Verhoek Europe housed its distribution centre there."
A revolution in overhead sectional doors
Pioneering ASSA ABLOY OH1142P Dual Drive overhead doors were chosen for the building, well before construction began. "Innovation ranks high on Pleijsier Bouw's list of priorities so it was a natural decision to install this new door system here", said Steven van der Sloot.

Steven van der Sloot added, "The OH1142P dock doors absolutely live up to expectations: they are extremely fast and efficient and take up considerably less space. The implementation of the new system also went smoothly. There was excellent communication between our contractor and the ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems team. Moreover, not only were the engineers present during the construction of the dock doors, the developers of the system also watched closely. Add to that the quality of the doors and we end up with outstanding overhead doors that will certainly prove their worth in the future."
Smart loading and unloading
The warehouse is equipped with 28 smart loading bay systems based on ASSA ABLOY OH1142P Dual Drive dock doors with Dual Drive technology. These springless overhead sectional doors operate faster, smoother and more reliably than standard overhead doors.
Instead of springs, the door is powered by a Dual Drive motor, fixed to the bottom door panel, simplifying installation and maintenance and taking up less space. The standard IoT module allows the door to be connected to the ASSA ABLOY Insight digital entrance management solution, which provides critical insights to optimise the flow of people and goods while increasing security.
We also installed 28 DL6010S swingdock levellers, 28 DS6060S van cushion shelters, 28 wheel guides, and 5 additional OH1042P insulated panel doors in the warehouse.
