Test Automation Lead

Your Opportunity: 

 

As a member of the QA Software Testing team, you will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation, and delivery of Traka's automated testing programme.  

You will be required to interact between departments and third parties, leveraging your existing skill set to ensure the framework, infrastructure and test scope are fit for purpose; increasing software quality and delivery timescales

Principal accountabilities: 

  • Your principal role is to implement, deliver and maintain a suitable automated software testing strategy, working closely with the Software QA and Development teams in order to improve the product quality and test coverage of Traka Web, Traka Touch and Integration Engine and to reduce the amount of manual testing.   

  • The strategy will comprise of a developing a framework, tools, training and processes within Traka Technology. 

  • Develop and maintain an automated testing framework comprising of processes, procedures, tools and ways of working to deliver on the agreed strategy.  

  • Determine & prioritise a roadmap of automated software test coverage including core and extended software functionalities, identifying the key areas to focus on initially. 

  • Maintain the repositories and matrix's of features and functions 

  • Analyse requirements and define automated test scripts to ensure sufficient test coverage or both core and extended functionality. 

  • Executing tests and validating test results. 

  • Identify training needs for yourself and the team and work closely with the QA Co-ordinator and QA Manager to arrange the training programme you have identified. 

  • Identify, analyse, and document any defects discovered during testing. 

  • Duties may also include developing software test tools, performing load tests or simulations. 

  • Liaise and inform relevant departments and stakeholders as required. 

  • Manage all processes associated with effective automated software testing, ensuring that they are continuously monitored and that changes to improve quality and efficiency are identified and implemented. 

  • Ensure to keep visibility and communication active with your team leaders and management in regards to automation strategy. 

  • Develop KPIs and Reporting Metrics to show the overall automated test coverage and metrics to show the outcome over time such as showing the number of issues found per release. 

  • You will still be required to support the QA team as required.

Essential skills: 

  • Proven experience of test automation development using tools such as: 

  • SmartBear TestComplete, CITS, Selenium, UFT, Rapise, Katalon etc  

  • Strong understanding and appreciation of test automation principles. 

  • 5+ years practical experience in product/software testing and quality assurance engineering. 

  • Good knowledge of the software development and software testing lifecycles. 

  • Experience with testing browser and desktop-based applications locally and via integration to external tools. 

  • Working in an Agile software development environment (Scrum).  

  • Administrative experience with Windows based Operating Systems (client and server). 

  • Proven experience using SQL Server and writing advanced SQL queries. 

  • Experience with the Zephyr test case management system. 

  • Experience with the Jira issue management system. 

  • Installing and configuring virtual environments. 

 

Desirable skills: 

  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI or similar software. 

  • Experience of determining software behaviours. 

  • ISEB, ISTQB, or other relevant qualifications/experience. 

  • Experience of testing physical products and their interaction with software applications. 

  • Experience of distributed software architectures. 

  • Experience of, or a willingness to learn architecture of applications written in VB.NET/C#. 

  • Used to working in an environment where you can test against code using various source control solutions (Git etc.) 

  • Experience of writing code.
