Brasserie Chouffe: From small brewing installation to international brand

Brasserie Chouffe was founded in 1982 by brothers-in-law Chris Bauweraerts and Pierre Gobron. What started as an experiment in a small brewing installation quickly grew into a successful business. The first beer – La Chouffe, a blond beer with a unique taste – was very well received. In the following years, the range expanded further, and the brewery experienced strong growth. In 2006, Brasserie Chouffe was acquired by the Duvel Moortgat group. This acquisition led to further professionalization and expansion of production and distribution capabilities, without losing the artisanal charm.

Industrial door solutions optimize efficiency and safety

The new bottling plant of Brasserie Chouffe is located in Fontenaille, about 4 km from the original brewery. The bottling plant processes beers from various brands within the Duvel Moortgat group, including Chouffe, Liefmans, De Koninck, and Vedett. Thanks to the high production capacity of this new facility, the group can operate more flexibly and perfectly respond to growing demand. To optimize the efficiency and safety of the warehouse – located in the same building as the new bottling plant – Brasserie Chouffe opted for the industrial door solutions from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems.

Day-Night doors keep heat in and unwanted visitors out

Exterior doors were installed at 9 different locations, including 4 ASSA ABLOY HS8010PDN day-night doors. These high-speed doors ensure short passage times and high efficiency (operating speed up to 2.4 m/s) in day mode, while in night mode, a high-security sectional door closes in front of the high-speed door for extra protection. Other major advantages of these industrial warehouse doors are the self-repairing system, the lifespan of 1,000,000 cycles, and the excellent insulation.

Insulated sectional doors with thermally broken pass doors

Additionally, we also installed 5 ASSA ABLOY OH1042P insulated sectional doors, 2 of which have pass doors and 1 at the loading dock. These flexible classics are an excellent choice for spaces where temperature stability is not necessarily required. Moreover, we can now also install pass doors with a low threshold and thermally broken door profiles, so the entire door does not need to be opened for quick access. Thanks to these new pass door profiles, we comply with the Belgian EPB requirement, which states that a door must have a U-value lower than 2 W/(m²K). The pass door does not affect the insulation of the sectional door as it is made of the same insulating material.
