NPI Sourcing Manager
Job Summary
The NPI Sourcing Manager serves as the critical link between product development, engineering, and the global supplier base to ensure new products are sourced cost-effectively, quickly, and reliably. This role manages the sourcing process for new product development projects, including supplier engagement, cost analysis, and sample management, with a focus on cabinet hardware, pocket door hardware, and decorative accessories. The NPI Sourcing Manager develops and maintains strong supplier relationships, primarily in Asia and North America, while driving performance in quality, delivery, and cost. This position requires a strategic and hands-on approach, balancing cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and operations teams to achieve successful product launches and long-term sourcing excellence.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end sourcing process for all new product development projects—from early supplier engagement to cost quoting and sample management.
- Partner with engineering, product, and marketing teams to identify the right suppliers, materials, and finishes for design and function goals.
- Lead RFQ processes to ensure accurate cost visibility, lead time alignment, and supplier readiness for launch.
- Develop and maintain a reliable supplier base, primarily in Asia and North America, and drive supplier performance on quality, delivery, and cost.
- Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure a smooth handoff from NPI to production.
- Track and report sourcing milestones to support project timelines and cost objectives. May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience Profile
- BS Mechanical Engineering, BA Business, or similar degree with a strong background in a technical/manufacturing environment.
- 10-15 years sourcing/procurement experience of manufacturing components.
- 2-5 years managing a group of sourcing leaders.
- Extensive industry experience developing new FG/Subassembly manufacturing suppliers.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or other related professional certification (completed or in progress) is desired but not required.
- Experience in supply chain operations and/or management is a plus.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to drive lower costs through regional/global consolidation.
- Considerable knowledge of sources of supply, markets, price, and commodity trends, with the ability to develop strategies and contingency plans.
- Strong negotiation and supplier development skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Global business experience working across cultures and time zones.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP systems (Oracle/JDE preferred) and PLM systems.
Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
Pay Range: $108,528-$170,545.
This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
