Human Resources Generalist

The Fleming and Baron brand of ASSA ABLOY is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This position will be onsite and based out of our Woodbridge, Ontario Canada manufacturing facility.

What would you do as our Human Resources Generalist?
This position will play an integral role within the Human Resources Team to ensure that we continue our reputation as an employer of choice in North America. We offer a collaborative environment where your ideas are welcomed, and you will have an opportunity to help shape our future!
You would also:
- Ensure that programs are carried out in accordance with ASSA ABLOY’s policies and procedures.
- Address employee concerns and issues by collecting all relevant information, research solutions and determining best possible outcomes for consideration; expediting selected action(s); and following up to ensure resolution.
- Champion a best in class on-boarding experience for all employees. Follow each employee through the first year of employment with touch meetings, surveys, etc. Examine feedback, recommend, and implement adjustments to enhance the onboarding experience.
- Communicate with employees regularly to establish rapport and create an environment that promotes well-being and positive morale.
- Coordinate the ASSA ABLOY annual employee survey and participate in communication of results, planning and execution of actions and tracking progress.
- Work with Environmental Health and Safety to coordinate wellness program activities. These include those sponsored by either the Door Group or local company.
- Plan, organize and execute morale and recognition events for employees. These could include a company BBQ, team-building activities for departments, special recognition days, etc.
- Coordinate and arrange pre-employment physical assessments.
- Manage temporary employee staffing.
- Submit payroll submissions (including, but not limited to the following changes: address, phone, safety shoe reimbursements, tool allowance reimbursements, and pay adjustments). Will act as back-up during absences.
- Will assist Payroll and Agency in resolving any payroll-related issues.
- Abide by, support and ensure compliance with all pertinent Canadian laws including, but not limited to the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Relations Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
- Uphold Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Recruit for open positions; post jobs, source candidates, review resumes, conduct phone interviews, in person interviews, and complete reference checks.
- Oversee absence management, including site accountability for proper use of absence codes, tracking and consistent application of attendance program. Ensures the utilization of absence management tools to reduce unplanned absenteeism.
- Assist in the verification of Human Resource information records and compiles reports from ADP database.
- Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate organizational training and development efforts.
- Assist HR Manager with various research/special projects, (ie: Wellness Initiative, reward and recognition, compensation, etc.)
- Be visible and available on the manufacturing floor, be the frontline to answer employee HR related questions in a timely manner; promote employee relations
- Consistently supports and promotes a safe and harmonious working environment.
- Other duties as assigned
The Skills and Experience you need:
- Bachelor’s diploma or degree in human resources or related field required.
- 3-4 years of Human Resource Coordinator/Administrator experience preferred.
- Managed leave programs such as STD and LTD
- Previous experience with HRIS systems. Knowledge of Success Factors, ADP E-time and ADP WFN preferred.
- External recruiting experience.
- Experience in presenting in front of groups of people using audiovisual tools with self-created materials.
- Experience in assisting in developing and championing employee programs.
- General understanding of safety claims management preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office, Internet, email, etc.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and analytical skills required.
- Must be self-starter and team player.
- Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality with privileged information
- Ability to travel on occasion.
- Attention to detail especially with deadlines.
- Excellent at multi-tasking.
- Ability to research, collect relevant information and apply appropriately.
- Ability to work extended hours and flexible work schedules to accommodate all shifts.
