Position Description
The Kitting Supervisor oversees the day-to day production activities associated with the manufacturer of automatic pedestrian doors. While this position is responsible for supporting the work of others, it also requires coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates and upper management at the facility.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Safety minded in all work activities; suggest and recommend safety initiatives; commitment to safe work habits, maintaining work are organized aligned with 5S.
- Oversee and set daily goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans at least one day ahead and communicate to subordinates. Provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Monitor and report any part shortages or outages to management and buyers.
- Update the schedule with completed kits daily.
- Monitor and approve overtime as needed for the kitters based on the schedule and production.
- Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
- Support any projects related to Materials Management as assigned.
- To be a working lead as and when needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the role:
- High school diploma or equivalent, or 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: basic knowledge of MS Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Hands-on technical aptitude with analytical problem-solving skills.
- Clear, concise technical writing and documentation abilities.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized self-starter.
- Comfortable working independently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Continuous improvement mindset with investigative and data-driven approach.
Physical Demands
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. This is a walking position for up to 10 hours per day on a concrete warehouse or factory floor. Ability to lift 40 or more pounds both overhead and at waist level. The position requires continuous moderate or occasional heavy physical activity due to lifting 16’ to 21’ aluminum extrusions onto a rolling cart for up to 10 hours per day. The employee is required to walk, reach with arms and hands. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Exposure to intermediate/loud noise is expected when working in the manufacturing environment. The work environment is climate controlled.
