Engineer, IT Systems

Position Summary:  The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for managing network and server strategies and providing assistance to the desktop team.  The IT Systems Engineer provides technical and administrative support for 4Front’s infrastructure to include computer networking, data storage (SAN), servers, security systems, wireless network, switches, and telecommunication systems for the facility.  The role will be responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining computer assets, hardware/software, and physical/virtual servers while servicing and troubleshooting the employee network, email, and access accounts.

 

  1. Description of Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of facility level computer infrastructure including networks, systems hardware/software support, training, and special projects.
  • Implement network connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wireless systems as configured by Corporate IT.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges, and security.
  • Administer local and remote helpdesk supporting all users and systems; lead relationship with outsourced 24/7 help desk team and relationship with provider.
  • Assist in providing network and remote connectivity hardware/software support for users.
  • Troubleshoot Plant level IT issues.
  • Maintain LAN user documentation including hardware/software applications.
  • Install and maintain system hardware and software.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot the network logs and track the nature and resolution of problems.
  • Analyze, monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve server or data network problems.
  • Maintains network documentation; perform capacity planning, and monitoring for network and servers .
  • Performs server and network upgrades and tuning.
  • Provide support and strategy for phone system and data communication.
  • Install, support, and maintain facility networking (wired / wireless) and telephony infrastructure.
  • Ensure security and anti-virus software is installed and working.
  • Monitor usage to ensure security of data and access privileges.
  • Provide primary support for next generation of endpoint protection systems.
  • Provide primary cyber security system management to include web and email monitoring systems.
  • Maintain backup maintenance. Design and manage disaster recovery.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and consulting with vendors and clients for hardware/software purchases, product services and support.
  • Recommend and specify the purchase of related products and services.
  • Assist and provide support to other technology staff as requested including performing scheduled network tasks, updating anti-virus definition files, monitoring network servers, and providing internet and intranet user support and specialized training.
  • Assist / provide support / training to other technology team members as requested.
  • Maintain support logs and other related information.
  • Assist in coordinating special projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Engineering or other related discipline required OR; a High School Diploma or equivalent AND at least 10 years of equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in all areas of local and wide area networks management and administration.
  • 5+ years of experience with installation and support of Microsoft server technologies and telecommunications equipment.
  • A+, Network+, CCNA, VCP, MCSA, MCSE certifications or equivalent required years of experience.
  • Experience administering systems and network in a corporate or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with SOX compliant access control policies and procedures; plus PAM solutions.

 

Computer Skills

  • Ability to use a personal computer utilizing spreadsheet and word processing software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Broad experience and technical understanding of Active Directory, Citrix, Exchange/Outlook, Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Teams, Apple hardware/software (iPhone and iPad).
  • Knowledge of and implementation experience with the Microsoft Windows Operating systems, Cisco, Juniper and/or Extreme Networks.

 

Certificates, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Network/Server Administration Certification. A+, Network+, CCNA, VCP, MCSA, MCSE certifications preferred.

  • Must be very familiar with server and networking monitoring software.
  • Good understanding of network infrastructure including how data moves through network equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Understands financial tradeoffs of performance, security, and expense management for IT.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment, manage user expectations, and potential risks.
  • Ability to work well in a highly functioning close knit team of technical employees – must be a team player.
  • Must be an expert with common office desktop software including Microsoft Products.
  • Comfortable providing support to and work with all levels of customers from C levels down in the organization.
  • Good knowledge of Internet standards and protocols including HTTP, IIS, TCP.
  • Strong knowledge in desktop/laptop imaging.
  • Familiarity with network design and technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, VLAN, network routing, VPN, encryption, SSL.
  • Information Systems Security - Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for evaluating information systems security in accordance with Corporate IT standards.
  • Infrastructure Design - Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.

 

Other Qualifications, Experience, or Requirements:

  • 4Front Engineered Solutions, Inc. will sponsor H-1B or other U.S. work authorization for this role.
  • Limited business travel in the field for internal customer support.
  • Ability to travel to Canada and Mexico; passport will be required (1 to 2 trips per year).
  • Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle while carefully observing all traffic rules and regulations.
  • Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays.
