ASSA ABLOY Door Controls Group in Monroe, NC is the North American Center of Excellence for Door Control products. Primarily sold under the Norton Rixson brands, we have manufactured and distributed mechanical and electro-mechanical door closers, low energy door operators, concealed door closers, and various accessories related to door motion control from this location since 1957. 

We are seeking a Quality Manager with a Strong Drive to perform Quality Management and Continuous Improvement functions in support of Total Quality Management and being the Focal Point for All quality related matters.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Quality Manager makes decisions, takes action, and leads the Quality team using various tools including LEAN elements, six sigma, theory of constraints, etc. Identifies and removes barriers to continuous improvement initiatives. Establishes quality information systems to access, collect, analyze and distribute results within the organization utilizing quantitative tools to measure, analyze and control processes such as SPC, process and performance capability studies, design of experiments, etc. Supports all aspects of the ISO Certified Quality System, including planning, control and improvement, and the application of product and process control methods such as developing control plans, identifying critical control points, developing and validating work instructions.

Quality activities cover a variety of products/processes which are controlled by detailed ISO procedures and instructions. Within established parameters, the Quality Manager recommends improvements or changes to enhance production quality in a preventive mode. Develops and maintains a sustainable quality management system. Work involves several concurrent projects and activities.

 

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Manage the Quality team and utilize statistical and analytical tools such as run charts, SPC, root cause analysis, etc. to characterize quality problems, identify root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • From a Quality Assurance perspective, provide technical support for all new technology implementations and assist with training inspection staff in modern quality assurance methods and tools.
  • Drives continuous improvement activities in product quality and manufacturability through effective use of LEAN tools. LEAN leader.
  • Lead the ISO certification process and program for the facility and maintain all related procedures and processes. 
  • Product testing and evaluation to support product compliance, ie: UL, CE, BHMA.
  • Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Observe established safety regulations and procedures.
  • Generate quality improvement suggestions and coach others to generate ideas. Assist with implementation of adopted suggestions.
  • Create, modify & analyze results of quality plans in keeping with changes in manufacturing processes and product designs.
  • Recommend design enhancements within engineering and cost parameters that will facilitate quality and process efficiency. Analyze part tolerances and recommend changes as required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate a high degree of skill level as a leader and facilitator, including a demonstrated ability to organize and track projects.

 

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Quality, Engineering or related Technical field. 

Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated Manufacturing/Industrial experience with an emphasis on Quality Management and ISO.

Certified Quality Engineer certificate is a plus.

LEAN/6 Sigma Certifications – Green/Black Belt.

Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A strong desire to get things done in a quick, very efficient, very effective, very accurate manner.

Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Ability to influence and work through cross-functional teams and influence decisions.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and influence at all levels of an organization

Strong analytical skills with ability to focus on details to get quick accurate results,

Desire to move up within ASSA ABLOY and be promoted to higher levels within the business. 

Must be highly detail oriented, organized and have the ability to work under pressure.
