Product Engineer

Our Ceco brand is growing and there has never been a more exciting time to join us! We are recruiting for a Product Engineer that will work on-site at our manufacturing plant based in Milan, Tennessee. 

 

What would you do as our Product Engineer? 

 

The Product Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, and support of door and frame products within the organization. This position bridges engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to ensure products are innovative, compliant, cost-effective, and manufacturable. The Product Engineer contributes to new product development, continuous improvement initiatives, and supports technical troubleshooting to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction. 

 

You will also: 

  • Collaborate with Leadership, Product Management, and Engineering to design new products and improve existing doors and frames. 

  • Identify opportunities for product improvement and cost reduction. 

  • Create and maintain accurate design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and BOMs. 

  • Provide hands-on support for process validation with the manufacturing team. 

  • Troubleshoot design and production issues direction with plant personnel. 

  • Perform engineering analysis (DFMEA, PFMEA, FEA) to assess risk and compliance. 

  • Ensure designs meet relevant codes and certifications requirements .  

  • Coordinate with external certification bodies (UL, Intertek, FBC) as needed. 

  • Conduct prototype validation and periodic compliance testing. 

  • Maintain BOMs and configurations in the ERP system.  

  • Support feasibility reviews for custom orders. 

  • Provide engineering assistance to Order Processing, Customer Service, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams. 

  • Develop specifications for purchased materials and support cost estimates. 

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and compliant work environment in alignment with the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct and Health & Safety Policy.  

  • Some overnight travel may be required. 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

 

The skills and experience we’re looking for: 

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Product Design Engineering) preferred. 

  • 0–5 years in sheet metal product design, fabrication, or manufacturing engineering. 

  • Practical experience with metal forming processes (brake press, punching, welding) is strongly preferred. 

  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and producing mechanical design drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and specifications. 

  • Hands-on experience with CAD software (AutoCAD & SolidWorks 3D CAD preferred). 

  • Proficiency with ERP, MRP, or PLM systems for BOM management and configuration control. 

  • Understanding of engineering analysis tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, FEA) 

  • Ability to develop basic tooling/fixture concepts. 

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving design and manufacturing issues. 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across departments. 

  • Excellent technical writing and documentation abilities. 

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects.
