Sr. Global Sourcing Leader, Electronics

Job Summary

Establishes and manages partnerships with globally located suppliers, with focus on Electrical parts. This includes supplier identification, selection, qualification, development, and onboarding. Major responsibilities of the role include sourcing activities related to new product launches, sustaining existing products, and cost improvement initiatives.  Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals/strategies. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Basic understanding of the financials (Profit / Loss) and ability to put together cost improvement / inflation / premium fee projection is required. Travels as required for the successful completion of duties.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • (30%) Manages strong relationships and cultivates winning partnerships with all suppliers.
  • (15%) Negotiates with suppliers to receive the best overall cost, payment term, service, and delivery.
  • (15%) Works cross-functionally with the team located globally in launching new products or components, including product evaluation, selection, and qualification, packaging, and artwork confirmation, SSPO update, and shipment tracking.  
  • (15%) Manages Competitive Bidding Process and performs Make vs Buy analysis.
  • (10%) Manages smooth transition from existing suppliers to new suppliers as part of the sourcing strategy.
  • (5%) Evaluates, measures and reports Supplier performance metrics and scorecards.
  • (5%) Develops, implements, and maintains a product inventory strategy that supports company's supply chain.
  • (5%) Evaluates market conditions to maintain inventory levels and to control costs. Estimate and project the financial model for the cost improvement / inflation / premium fees.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

 

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or business. Focus on manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • 7-10 years sourcing experience, preferably in high volume manufacturing/consumer products.
  • 3+ years of sourcing experience in electronic & electro-mechanical parts such as semiconductors and PCBAs. Some experience with EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Service) is preferred.
  • Previous experience dealing with big-box retailers is desired but not required.
  • A Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or other related professional certification completed or in progress is desired.

 

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in English, written and verbal, Spanish or Mandarin language skills is preferred.
  • A proven ability to drive lower costs through regional/global consolidation.
  • Considerable knowledge of sources of supply, markets, price, and commodity trends, with the ability to accurately predict marketplace events and develop both long-range strategies and short-term contingency plans.
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make presentations and influence people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities that often have competing priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook.
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or equivalent ERP systems.

 

Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

 

Pay Range: $108,528-$170,545.

 

This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location. ASSA ABLOY conducts regular review of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.
