About the role:

Were looking for a Firmware Engineer to join us in our Redwood City headquarters. In this role, youll be writing and implementing embedded software for our consumer smart lock and access control products.

Our teams are on the smaller side, so engineers at Level are able to take significant ownership and solve challenging problems directly. You'll be working alongside experienced engineers and designers who've come from some of the most recognizable technology companies in the world, so you can expect to learn from the best while also leaving your mark on the products we build.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Write and test embedded software in C & C++, making sure its well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to help us create tightly integrated hardware and software features for a unified IoT stack
  • Develop internal tools and features that improve testing and manufacturability of our products

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • 1+ years of embedded software development experience, preferably using C or C++ (if you have less or more experience, but are curious about this role, we'd still encourage you to apply!)
  • Solid computer science fundamentals along with practical software development skills, prioritizing testability and reusability
  • Ability to take ownership and work independently, collaborate across different engineering disciplines, and learn new technologies and skills quickly
  • Experience using tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • A strong interest in the types of products we specialize in, i.e. smart home and IoT
  • Ability to work in our Redwood City, CA office

 

Nice To Have, But Not Required:

  • Bare metal firmware coding experience
  • Experience with ultra-low power hardware platforms
  • Proficiency in Real-Time Operating Systems such as FreeRTOS and/or Zephyr
  • Experience with embedded Linux
  • Knowledge of wireless and IoT protocols (BLE, Zigbee, Thread, and/or WiFi)

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • The salary range for this role is $100K-$160K and we consider a broad scope of factors when making compensation decisions.
