Senior Product Engineer

Our Ceco brand is growing and there has never been a more exciting time to join us! We are recruiting for a Sr. Product Engineer that will work on-site at our manufacturing plant based in Milan, Tennessee. 

 

What would you do as our Sr. Product Engineer? 

 

The Senior Product Engineer is a technical leader responsible for driving innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement in the design and manufacture of hollow metal doors and frames. This position combines deep technical expertise, cross-functional leadership, and strategic project execution to ensure products are high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective.  

 

 

You will also: 

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of new hollow metal door and frame products. 

  • Enhance existing product lines through cost reductions, improved manufacturability, and design standardization.  

  • Champion innovation and drive continuous improvement in product development. 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on all relevant industry codes and compliance standards.  

  • Coordinate and maintain third-party certifications with bodies like UL, Intertek and SDI.  

  • Conduct advanced engineering analyses and validation testing to ensure robust, code-compliant designs. 

  • Provide technical leadership in process troubleshooting and tooling/fixture development.  

  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to resolve production issues and optimize processes.  

  • Support feasibility analysis for custom orders and ensure compliance with specifications.  

  • Collaborate with Quality, Procurement, OE, Customer Service, and other teams to support product lifecycle. 

  • Serve as an engineering liaison in customer meetings, site visits, and project reviews as needed. 

  • Mentor junior engineers and lead VA/VE, problem-solving, and best practice initiatives.  

  • Actively lead or support Lean/Six Sigma projects focused on cost savings and efficiency. 

  • Drive data-based decision-making and continuous process refinement.  

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and compliant work environment in alignment with the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct and Health & Safety Policy.  

  • Some overnight travel may be required. 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

 

The skills and experience we’re looking for: 

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Product Design Engineering) preferred. 

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in sheet metal product design, fabrication, and manufacturing support.  

  • Direct experience in hollow metal doors and frames strongly preferred. 

  • Advanced knowledge of metal forming, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly processes. 

  • Proven expertise with industry codes and compliance standards (UL, Intertek, SDI, NFPA, ASTM, ADA). 

  • Proficient in engineering analysis and testing (FEA, DFMEA, PFMEA, validation).  

  • Mastery of CAD tools (AutoCAD & SolidWorks 3D CAD).  

  • Experience maintaining and managing third-party certifications.  

  • Skilled in Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. 

  • Strong project management abilities and experience leading cross-functional initiatives.  

  • Effective communicator with strong presentation skills for leadership and customers.  

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
