Shipping Clerk
Starting rate: $17 - $18 per hour depending on experience.
Job Summary
This position is required to manage, organize and ensure efficient daily outbound shipments to customers. This requires the incumbent to plan, organize daily demand shipment requirements, arrange logistics, ensure all associated shipping documents, and to coordinate the warehouse packaging associates for efficient on time delivery as well as minimize and reduce costs where possible. Continual and effective communication and coordination with department personnel, manufacturing leadership, sales and customer service teams is essential. Incumbent must be able to use good judgement to determine best possible solutions for different situations that may arise. The Shipping Clerk will champion quality and safety as a foundation of their role and coordination efforts. In addition, this position may require MRO purchasing functions to support warehouse and plant requirements as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinating shipments with logistics, execute shipment entries, and ensuring proper shipping documentation and tracking – 50%
- Supervising shipping and warehouse employees to ensure orders are packaged properly per sales order and carrier requirements – 25%
- Follow up with warehouse and production on orders daily to help ensure on time delivery – 15%
- Assist with daily production planning 5%
- MRO purchasing - 5%
Education and Experience Profile
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- APICS certification desired.
