At ZeroSSL GmbH (part of HID Global, Assa Abloy), we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Test Automation Engineer with a strong technical background to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our SaaS platform. 

In this role, you will be responsible for testing and maintaining high-quality standards across our Symfony-based backend (with Codeception in place), AWS cloud infrastructure (DevOps), and customer-facing frontends (Cypress or a comparable tool, to be determined).

 

You will play a crucial role in automation, software testing methodologies, and infrastructure validation, requiring hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, programming, and CI/CD pipelines.

As our Test Automation Engineer , you’ll support HID’s success by:

Backend (Symfony, PHP, Codeception):

  • Design, develop, and execute automated tests for Symfony- and PHP-based backend services using Codeception and potentially other testing tools
  • Implement and extend API, functional, integration, regression, unit, penetration, and performance tests
  • Identify and report bugs, vulnerabilities, and performance bottlenecks, collaborating closely with the development team.

Frontend (JavaScript, UI Testing, Accessibility):

  • Develop and maintain frontend test suites to ensure high-quality user experience.
  • Automate UI testing using tools like Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Conduct manual and exploratory testing to validate usability, visual consistency, and accessibility.

Infrastructure & Monitoring (AWS, DevOps, CI/CD, Sentry, Security):

  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of our AWS infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure tests for security, resilience, and performance.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to optimize CI/CD pipelines.
  • Validate Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) configurations.
  • Monitor key performance metrics to proactively prevent incidents.

 

Your Experience and Background include:

Strong Technical Expertise

  • 3+ years in QA Engineering, with a focus on test automation and DevOps testing.
  • Proficiency in PHP and experience with other languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
  • Solid understanding of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, WAF, etc.).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and monitoring tools.
  • Scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or similar.

Test Automation & Tooling

  • Experience with Codeception, PHPUnit, or similar frameworks.
  • Expertise in Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or other UI testing tools.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, especially GitLab CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with performance and penetration testing (e.g., OWASP).
  • IT Security & Web Application Protection
  • Knowledge of threat modeling and attack scenarios.
  • Ability to implement security measures (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
  • Experience in code reviews with a focus on security vulnerabilities.
