What would you do as our Warehouse Supervisor?
In this hands-on role, you will oversee and coordinate the daily shipping, receiving and warehousing activities. This role supervises and coordinates activities of the employees engaged in shipping and receiving of products and materials and in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment, while meeting assigned department metrics.
You would also:
- Supervise and lead the Shipping Receiving and Warehouse team.
- Resolve issues regarding prepped and shipped orders.
- Continuously communicate with the Production and Customer Service teams to achieve Customer delivery dates.
- Move inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouse, coordinate inventory transfers with related departments.
- Develop work schedules and assign work to the S/R and Warehouse team.
- Maintain inventory by conducting daily cycle counts, and monthly physical counts; reconcile variances, and input data.
- Determine space requirements and position and layout of shipments in trucks, according to customer specification and safe practices.
- Perform final inspections of completed orders for correctness (i.e. labels, barcodes and other features).
- Maintain inventory and supplies by making requisitions, receiving, storing, and securing the warehouse.
- Maintain appropriate shipping and receiving documentation, track, and report unfilled orders.
- Prepare reports for management including KPI achievements.
- Train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
- Analyze performance of existing shipping and receiving systems; evaluate and recommend new programs to improve distribution methods and implement cost reductions.
- Collaborate with Production, Purchasing and Customer Service to optimize processes for productivity, quality, safety, and customer-service standards; identify warehouse system improvements resolve problems and ensure accuracy.
- Keep equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshoot breakdowns; track preventive maintenance; arrange repairs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse operations to enhance workflow, eliminate waste, and increase throughput.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Lead and facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action processes to resolve recurring warehouse issues.
- Identify and implement Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma practices to improve warehouse layout, material flow, and space utilization.
- Establish and standardize work instructions and best practices, and ensure compliance and consistency across all shifts.
- Adhere to federal, provincial, and local legislation and regulations. While working in compliance with AADG programs and policies, the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
The Skills and Experience you need:
- Graduate degree in business, operations, or a related field: supply chain or logistics certification is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience as Warehouse and/or Shipping supervisor within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to manage teams, ideally within a unionized environment.
- Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, and logistics procedures, including EDI and shipping documentation.
- Demonstrated success implementing Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies in warehouse or manufacturing settings.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies, recommend data-driven solutions, and manage improvement projects.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); skilled in budgeting, reporting, and interpreting process flows.
- Exceptional leadership with a sense of urgency, focus on customer service, and ability to inspire accountability and innovation.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal); collaborative team player who contributes to a positive work environment.
