As our Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by:
- Owning and managing the deployment and operations of our SaaS product, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Developing and managing scalable infrastructure as code using Pulumi with AWS and Kubernetes.
- Operating observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch and Sentry.io for performance monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, reliability risks, and system failures.
- Participating in on-call rotation and incident response, ensuring rapid recovery and root-cause analysis as needed. Your focus is on stable infrastructure and avoiding such situations in advance.
- Managing and supporting critical data infrastructure, including MySQL, Redis, and S3.
- Ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and data security across all storage and caching systems.
- Implementing security best practices for handling secrets, access management, and protecting infrastructure from threats.
- Regularly auditing systems for vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.
- Working closely with developers, product managers, and QA teams to streamline deployments and optimize workflows.
- Contributing to disaster recovery planning, backups, and failover procedures.
- Writing clear documentation for infrastructure, deployment workflows, and troubleshooting processes.
Your Experience and Background include:
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related field.
- Strong expertise with AWS cloud services, Kubernetes orchestration, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Fluent in TypeScript for infrastructure development (Pulumi). Ability to read PHP code is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of Linux server administration, system internals, and performance tuning.
- Solid experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management tools.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot critical production issues under pressure and drive preventative improvements.
- Strong focus on security practices in infrastructure and operations.
- Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus but not required.
- Relevant technical education (HTL, FH, or University)
- Hands-on experience in cloud-native environments with a proven track record of managing production workloads.
- Previous experience in SaaS, large-scale web applications, or high-availability environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English language, both verbally and in writing
- German language skills are not required but recommended
- Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch), Kubernetes, Pulumi.
- CI/CD & Automation: GitLab CI/CD, Docker, scripting with Bash or Python.
- Databases & Caching: MySQL, Redis, S3 data storage.
- Monitoring & Observability: AWS CloudWatch, Sentry.io, SIEM solutions
- Security: Secret management (AWS Secrets Managert), IAM, encryption practices, vulnerability scanning tools.
- OS & Networking: Linux (administration, tuning, troubleshooting), networking fundamentals, load balancing.
- Languages: TypeScript (infrastructure as code), PHP (basic reading/debugging), Bash/Python (automation).

- Coordination – Working effectively with cross functional teams across a global organization, and adjusting actions as needed to jointly succeed in achieving common goals
- Communication Skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate complex ideas and concepts
- AWS Cloud Practioner and/or AWS Solutions Architect or greater certification is a plus.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and participating in sprint-based deployments.
- Experience working with PKI, TLS/SSL, or related technologies is a plus
