Maintenance Fabricator - Journey Level
Responsible for performing a variety of technical duties relating to mechanical, electrical, preventive maintenance and fabrication functions..3
The differences between classifications are the level of mastery of the essential functions, the degree of supervision required when performing these functions, and the amount of lead direction provided to others.
Technician 2: Journey-level class. The Technician works under general supervision, independently performing the essential functions at an adequate level.
ESSENTIAL Functions:
- Troubleshoots basic equipment issues in production environment.
- Troubleshoot and/or repair basic hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components.
- Provides support in areas of fabrication, assembly, welding, and machining.
- Assemble and debug modified and custom designed equipment, dies, and fixtures independently with engineering supervision.
- Work from oral and written instructions.
- Maintains adherence to company policy, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
- Understanding of engineering drawings.
- Assumes other duties as assigned by leadership.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Diagnose equipment issues.
- Performs repairs on equipment independently with engineering supervision.
- Assist engineering and maintenance in the debugging of simple custom designed equipment.
- Performs fabrication, assembly, welding, machining, and grinding operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light office duties and activities.
- Ability to work within a production facility, often times requiring prolonged standing and walking.
- Ability to inspect machinery, often times requiring movement of machinery or garage door parts.
- Extended time on feet.
- Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination with hand/power tools.
- Frequent stooping, bending, walking, carrying, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS):
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Have basic machinist tools.
- Work from oral and written instructions.
- Able to fabricate, machine, weld, grind, and assemble components.
- Skilled in the operation of machine shop equipment.
- Skilled in sheet metal fabrication.
- 4 Years minimum maintenance experience.
