ASSA ABLOY solution found in one of the world’s few BREEAM Outstanding certified buildings /global/scaled/3000x1307x0x223x1000x435/AAES-COM-about-us-news and media-2016-images-Torsplan2_NCC43867.jpg To meet the requirements for BREEAM Outstanding certification, NCC had to choose their building materials with great care, and only work with suppliers that could live up to BREEAM’s high standards. They challenged ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems to deliver the best possible entrance solutions for reducing energy consumption in the new building. When creating the specification for a new building in Stockholm's city center, the developer NCC set ambitious sustainability targets. The resulting construction is one of very few buildings in the world to have ever achieved a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) Outstanding certification. BREEAM is the world's longest established method for assessing, rating and certifying the sustainability of buildings. Timing important for both user-experience and sustainability performance A high-performance door and several sliding and swing door operators, equipped with ECO radar and safety sensors were the solution. After ASSA ABLOY had analyzed the flow of people in and out of the building the operators, which meet the European safety standard EN16005, are set so that the door only opens wide enough for that precise number of people to pass through. The door also opens and closes at the right moment to make it a comfortable for the people entering, while preventing unnecessary energy loss. The high-performance door combines good insulation, security and fast opening and closing time. This solution ensures a good user-experience, as well as contributing to the building's superior sustainability performance. Moreover, NCC's choice of door operators that really match the situation, will prolong the lifetime of the door, further adding to its sustainability credentials.
