Manager, Product


As the Product Category Manageryou will be responsible for the product lifecycle management of the EMS & OEM group product lines and categories as assigned. 

Responsibilities include: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Successfully manage EMS&OEM group product categories, as assigned.  This includes continuous analysis of the product category performance throughout each product's lifecycle.  Required deliverables will include category and product performance analysis, gap analysis, product retirement analysis, SWOT analysis, and PEST analysis.
  • Develop market requirement documents, product proposals, and financial business cases for all new product development projects to ensure design, features, markets, and profitability align with the organization's business strategy.
  • Develop product category strategy, product roadmaps and product generation plans.  Identify and recommend new business opportunities and product feature requirements.
  • Regularly perform pricing and competitive analysis by customer channel and recommend strategies to improve market position, quality and costs.
  • Generate forecasts for revenue, unit volumes and profit for assigned products.  Conduct tracking against goals and suggest strategic adjustments when needed to achieve goals.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all major competitive products, market and product trends.  Regularly communicate this information to all levels of management as required.
  • Develop strategic marketing plans for new products in coordination with sales, marketing, engineering and operations.  This includes product definitions, pricing, positioning and channel strategies, and KPI's for measuring results.
  • Develop product training programs in coordination with sales, marketing and training group.  Be the product expert to assist customers with technical information about products.  Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Manage all new product beta and functional field testing (FFT's).  This includes assisting in identifying potential test sites, coordination with engineering of field installations, and monitoring of product test sites and results.
  • Responsible for keeping product line up to date will all code and compliance requirements.
  • Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements



Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university preferred or Eight (8) years experience in a related technical field; applicable credentials associated with access control technology products; experience in the field of access control integration with a full understanding of their requirements, design, usage and functionality; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
