Accessibility and sustainable design in research center /global/scaled/4256x1848x0x619x1000x435/AAES-COM-about-us-news and media-2015-images-Mars-research-tower-4256x2832px.jpg When faced with the challenge to design and construct a sustainable state-of-the-art construction for MaRS Research Tower in Toronto, the designers looked to ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems for automatic door solutions. Automatic sliding doors and automatic swing door operators were selected to address the sustainable design and accessibility requirements of MaRS Discovery District Phase 2, creating a productive environment to support the growth of innovation and research. The goal during the project was to design and construct a LEED Canada-CS Gold Certified, state of the art technology, 20 story facility. The 780,000-square-foot addition to the MaRS Centre would house multiple tenants focused on work & learning, health & energy. Automatic doors for every day sustainability ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems collaborated with MaRS & B&H Architects and Trillium Architectural Hardware to identify the best solutions to meet the everyday sustainability, cleanroom and accessibility needs of the various tenants.
