Inventory Control Specialist

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Inventory Control Specialist in our Lawrence, KS location.

 

An Inventory Control Specialist will administer inventory control procedures, investigate negative inventory quantities, analyze results and make recommendations based on findings.  This person would also assist with preparation and administration of cycle counting, production, purchasing and accounting departments in an effort to maintain complete and accurate inventory levels throughout the company.

 

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Assist with problem solving inventory situations with all necessary departments and personnel as needed.
  • Responsible for administrations of critical inventory procedures and processes.
  • Assist with cycle counting and analyzing root causes for variances.
  • Research, perform and communicate to Production Floor necessary inventory adjustments as needed.
  • Research and communicate to Production Floor proper scrap-reporting and substitutions as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of physical inventory and analyzes variances.
  • Responsible for the receipt entry on non-stock purchased orders.
  • Learns Hardware and Pick Center process; sometimes fills in at critical times.
  • Trains new team members in Pick Center.

Most Important Activities Performed:

  • Assists in the implementation and development of new procedures, assuring the accuracy of all inventory procedures, and maintaining of existing inventory procedures.
  • Review inventory reports and makes recommendations based on findings.
  • Responsible for applying manufactured stock items to open work orders, stage and zone for Shipping.
  • Assist Production floor in investigating negative inventory quantities.
  • Reconcile Parts Variances
  • Research, document and communicate to Production Management all inventory errors.
  • Assist Purchasing with Receiving Discrepancies
  • Assist with the training of Production Floor team-members and Management on inventory accuracy procedures.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping(organization and flow of plant floor inventory)
  • Monitor and report excess and aged inventory levels.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation, continuously and frequently overhead. Lifting of more than 45 lbs requires team lifting of at least 2 people.
  • Frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs require teamwork of at least 2 people.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily).
  • Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to work in loud, fast paced industrial environment.
  • Prolonged use of computer, keyboard, tablet, and/or scanner may be required for specific work tasks.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
  • Prolonged use of fine motor skills for writing, and computer work.

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Ability to process data quickly and accurately.
  • Keen analytical skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with diverse personalities in a tactful and flexible manner.
  • Must be results and people oriented, assertive, and have sound judgment.
  • Must possess the ability to coordinate multiple projects.
  • Possess organizational skills and the ability to perform a volume of detail work with speed and accuracy.
  • Prefer some previous college coursework and 1-3 years of Inventory Control related experience.
  • Prefer some Production Experience.
