Job Title: Manufacturing Production Coordinator               Location: Victoria, BC (In Office)

Reporting To: Production Manager                                            Travel: Minimal travel required;

                                                                                                      valid passport necessary for entry to US

 

Description:

The Manufacturing Production Coordinator plays a vital role in the production and quality assurance of Vigil’s advanced electronic locking, resident monitoring and alert systems, which are purpose-built to enhance safety, dignity, and quality of life in senior living communities. This position is central to ensuring the reliable assembly, programming, and testing of over 100 specialized electronic products that support caregivers and residents alike. With a foundation in electronics technology and hands-on experience in small device manufacturing, this role ensures that Vigil’s solutions meet the highest standards of performance and compliance. The role demands strong technical skills—including ERP system use, electronic troubleshooting, and software integration—paired with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset. By maintaining production efficiency, supporting audits, and contributing to continuous improvement, this individual directly supports Vigil’s mission to deliver dependable, life-enhancing technology to those who need it most.

 

Education, Training and Other Requirements:

  • Electronic Technologist Diploma or similar qualification

 

Experience:

  • Experience in small electronics device manufacturing, including soldering surface mount and through-hole
  • Experience with machining and mechanical assemblies
  • Previous related troubleshooting experience
  • Experience sourcing, installing, and maintaining software used in manufacturing. Programming software, data collection software, etc.
  • Experience with ERP systems

 

Skills/Competencies:

  • Safe behaviour with respect to electronics and inventory
  • Mechanical assembly skills, use of hand tools, occasional use of power tools
  • Ability to effectively use electronic test equipment, including high voltage test equipment (dielectric testing) for certifications
  • Strong computer skills: Candidate will be required to install printers/programming tools, use Microsoft 365 suite (especially Excel) extensively, as well as modify/maintain/enhance the production and testing environment
  • Must be able to troubleshoot computer issues related to the aforementioned activities
  • Source, install, and master new software programs with minimal supervision
  • Document new manufacturing test plans for new products or quality issues
  • Familiar with ERP systems and strong attention to detail
  • Capable of switching tasks in midstream
  • Strong initiative and work ethic; self motivated with a positive, patient attitude
  • Organizational and strong interpersonal skills required to work with others both internal and external to the organization
  • Must be capable of regular lifting when packing, storing, and shipping materials
  • Experience with 3D printing (filament) and design is preferred

 

Responsibilities:

Production & Manufacturing

  • Complete all work orders in a timely manner as assigned by the production manager
  • Maintain accurate stock count at off-site PCBA assembly, including communication and coordination with PCBA/EMS vendors
  • Assemble, program, test, label, and package all of Vigil manufactured devices (~100 products)
  • Troubleshoot these devices to assess failure modes, and complete rework/repair orders
  • Perform light soldering, sawing, and drilling work as required
  • Track defect rates for all work, and ensure recordkeeping to enable product improvement
  • Track labour efforts for products and subassemblies
  • Communicate as necessary to ensure high quality, high efficiency, cost effective product manufacturing
  • Perform or facilitate CSA/CE/UL audits
  • Learn field operations as required
  • Assist with quarterly inventory counts as required
  • Assist with maintaining up to date procedures for testing and assembly on products
  • Help to maintain the stockroom
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system utilization for all inventory-related transactions (work orders, RMAs, etc.)
  • Assist with qualifying suppliers and/or components, including testing/hand assembly in small batches
  • Assist with training colleagues in production on assembly/testing procedures
  • Other duties as required, including assisting with shipping/receiving. Opportunity to assist the Research & Development team with prototyping, documentation, analysis, and engineering changes.
