Gold and Platinum LEED certification

The Earth Rangers team has worked exhaustively to find the best building products to align with their mission. They sought building materials made with high percentages of rapidly renewable or recycled material, and opted for products that would enhance the sustainability of the building. They worked closely with ASSA ABLOY to source doors, frames and hardware that contribute to an environmentally conscious structure.

The result is a facility designed to be extraordinarily efficient.  It uses 90 percent less energy than other buildings its size, and integrates innovative water, energy conservation and comfort strategies. The building is double LEED certified – Gold and Platinum

Earth Rangers saves energy with Besam SL500

To obtain the LEED certification for operations and maintenance, Earth Rangers addressed leaky and drafty entrances. The existing rotating door was removed and replaced with the sliding door Besam SL500 EcoDoor from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems.

The Besam SL500 is equipped with features that radically reduce air infiltration and provide improved sealing for the building envelope. Its insulated glass panels enhance the “U” factor performance. Its unique magnetic latching feature keeps the door operational and tightly weather sealed in the event a small bump causes the door to come open. Its EcoDoor seals can reduce air infiltration by as much as 40 percent.

In addition a Trio-E door by Fleming for an improved building U-Factor and the employee entrance is secured with an Adams Rite deadlatch.
